Rhythms, Recorders, and DAWs

A James Wolfe musician plays a wide range of instruments through improvising, composing and performing. They appreciate and evaluate a wide variety of musical pieces.

Music to Enhance Learning - Reception

In Reception, we created musical patterns using clapping, body percussion and musical instruments following an A B A B sequence. We also used rhymes and song to support our leaning of new words, counting and the wider curriculum.

Creating Digital Tunes - Year 1

In Year 1 we are starting to use technology to develop music. We are using Garage Band (Apple’s Native Digital Audio Workstation) to explore sounds, create and record sequences of long and short sounds.

We use song to support our learning of the curriculum for example tricky words, geographical locations, 2 digit numbers.

Making and Taking Notes - Year 3

In Year 3 children have been learning how to hold the recorder correctly. They have learnt the notes A, B, and G, and played a tune together as a class. They have looked at music and identified the beat in music to follow along correctly.

Production and Musical Terminology - Year 5

Year 5 pupils did a fun music lesson based on the theme of Hip Hop using Charanga. They learned keywords such as tempo and beat as well as learning the names of different instruments.
