A Byte of Creativity
This half-term, our focus has been on fostering Digital Literacy among learners, equipping them with the necessary skills to navigate, evaluate, create, and share content using information technologies and the internet. The aim has been to enhance the students' understanding of digital tools while ensuring their safety and promoting responsible usage.
From Rotary to Mobile - Reception
In Reception, the children have been looking at differences in technology in the past and present. The children have been using computers, keyboards and an old typewriter in role play areas and discussed the differences in them.
Sampling Sounds - Year 1
In Year 1, Learners have been investigating Sound. They can demonstrate ways to change their voice for storytelling. The children have been exploring long and short sounds and can create a sequence of sounds. They are beginning to record their own sound effects.
Audio and Video Production - Year 3
In Year 3 and Year 4 have been focusing on Audio production. In Year 3, the children have been using Garageband on the iPads to create a piece of music with loops to accompany a video. They then evaluated and made improvements based on peer feedback. In Year 4, learners have discussed the ownership of digital audio and the copyright implications of duplicating the work of others. The children have used Audacity to produce a podcast, which will include editing their work, adding multiple tracks, and opening and saving the audio files.
Safe Surfing - Year 5 & 6
As part of Safer Internet Day, Years 5 and 6 took part in an assembly led by a police officer to teach them about online safety. Years 5 and 6 has an Internet safety assembly, focusing on how to make an effective password, make sensible cyber choices, understand the laws around cyber actions and reflect on their own use of the Internet.
